Aligning Text in HTML

Next well discuss how to align text in HTML. Aligning text in HTML is crucial for a professional looking website. Text alignment is also extremely important whenever we want to put a structure in our content. Generally, it would be nice to be able to move the text around so as to create space to insert another element on the webpage.

Text alignment comes in three types: Center, Left and Right. Again, when aligning text, we’re going to make use of the style attribute. To align text, simply insert the style attribute inside the opening tag of the text that you want to align, follow it up with a “text-align” value, put a colon symbol immediately after “text-align”, and then the location of the alignment that you want last. See an example of this below:

1<!DOCTYPE html>

2<html>

3<head>

4<title>How to Align Text!</title>

5</head>

6<body>

7<h3 style="text-align: center">Favorite Movies</h3>

8<ol>

9<li style="text-align: left">Star Wars</li>

10<li style="text-align: center">Top Gun</li>

11<li style="text-align: right">The Ring</li>

12</ol>

13</body>

14</html>

Text alignment is pretty straightforward. Just use the style attribute with a define text alignment value and you’re good to go. You’ll be able to align text from any of the three locations; left, right or center.
